Flights to Coron (Busuanga – USU)
The airport serving Coron is Francisco B. Reyes Airport (USU), located in Busuanga. Note that only smaller aircraft (turboprops) can land here, which limits the number of seats per flight.
From Cebu (CEB) to Coron
- Airlines: Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Cebu Pacific (Cebgo).
- Duration: Approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
- Details: There are usually 1–3 daily flights. This is a great alternative to avoid the congestion of Manila.
From Clark (CRK) to Coron
- Airlines: Primarily Philippine Airlines (PAL) and occasionally AirSwift.
- Duration: Approximately 1 hour.
- Details: Clark International Airport is an excellent choice if you are staying in North Luzon or want a more modern, less crowded airport experience than Manila.
⚠️ Important Note on Manila (NAIA): > If you are flying from Manila, please be aware that the main runways at Manila International Airport (NAIA) often have restrictions or are closed to turboprop operations during peak hours to prioritize larger international jets. Most flights to Coron from Manila now operate out of specific terminals (like Terminal 4) or utilize very specific time slots. Always check your departure terminal carefully.
Ferries to Coron
If you prefer traveling by sea or are on a budget, there are several ferry connections available.
Ferry Manila to Coron
- Operator: 2GO Travel (Large cruise-ferry).
- Frequency: Usually once or twice a week.
- Duration: Approximately 11 to 15 hours.
- Details: This is an overnight journey. You can book different classes, from economy bunks to private staterooms. It is a scenic way to arrive, but it requires advance planning due to the limited schedule. Tourist Class: approx. ₱1,902 (approx. €32)
Ferry Puerto Princesa to Coron
- Operator: 2GO Travel.
- Duration: Approximately 15 hours.
- Details: This route connects the capital of Palawan with Coron. It usually runs once a week as part of a larger route (Puerto Princesa – Coron – Manila). Tourist Class: approx. ₱1,868 (approx. €32)
- Alternative: Many travelers prefer taking a van from Puerto Princesa to El Nido (5 hours) and then taking a fast ferry (like Jomalia or Montenegro Lines) from El Nido to Coron (3.5 to 5 hours).
Ferry El Nido to Coron
- Operators: Jomalia Shipping, Montenegro Shipping Lines, Atienza InterIsland Ferries, Phimal Fast Ferry.
- Duration: Approximately 3,5 to 5 hours.
- Details: There are multiple daily departures in both directions. One-way tickets generally range from approximately ₱2,700 to ₱2,900 (approx. €46 – €50). Various classes are available, including Open-Air, Tourist Class, High-Speed Ferry, and air-conditioned options.
- Alternative: Many travelers prefer taking a van from Puerto Princesa to El Nido (5 hours) and then taking a fast ferry (like Jomalia or Montenegro Lines) from El Nido to Coron (3.5 to 5 hours).
Island Hopping Expedition El Nido – Coron
The multi-day expedition between El Nido and Coron traverses the remote Linapacan archipelago, far beyond the reach of standard day trips. Sleeping in beachfront camps and bamboo huts, I spent days snorkeling untouched coral reefs, exploring deserted sandbars, and navigating secluded channels on a traditional outrigger boat. Without cell signal or crowds, it remains the rawest, most immersive way to experience northern Palawan.
